The Dominican Republic - summer destination.

Earlier this summer I traveled to the DR - Dominican Republic, for the first time. My first destination was Sosúa in the Puerto Plata province.

The town is relatively small and walkable. During the day it is the ideal destination for those looking to relax, swim or just chill watching people go through.

Playa Sosúa

Playa Sosúa serves locals and tourists equally, so it tends to be a slice of true Dominican life. Many vendors of food, drinks and fresh coconut are available from early morning to sunset.

Pescado Frito

At night, the main strip transforms to the hub of neon lights and music where you can find a variety of bars, cigars lounges and nightclubs lining the street continue on late into the night.

Las Galeras in the Samana peninsula off the north coast was my second stop. Beautiful beach with usually very calm water.

Peninsula de Samana

Despite the recent growth in tourism the small village has managed to maintain their peaceful and timeless ambience; blue waters, soft sandy beaches make for some gorgeous beaches.

Peninsula de Samana

The Dominican Republic is a beautiful island with very friendly people. Locals care about foreigners coming to their country and always trying to give you a good experience and making you feel safe at all times. If you are looking for a quiet & relaxing getaway this is your destination in the Caribbean.
